October 2023 Update

A meeting was held online using video-conferencing,

Apologies Received from two members and one guest.

Six members were present.

Agenda:

  • Welcome and Introductions.
  • Building update. – Progress is going well, some issues have been discovered but they are being resolved and shouldn’t impact the timetable.
    • Historic fireplace – A historic fireplace was discovered hidden, unfortunately the condition is too poor to salvage in any way.
    • Site visit – Aplan for a site visit in December was made, this may be open to the public via prior arrangement (Safety equipment is needed)
  • Finance update. – Financial position remains unchanged.
  • Recruitment:
  • We need to recruit a Secretary and Treasurer as a matter of urgency. The role of secretary remains unfilled and the present treasurer has indicated a desire to step down at the AGM. Adverts will be produced and displayed publicly to see if interest can be generated.
  • Make the next meeting an open meeting- The next committee meeting will be held using MS teams and the link will be shared openly, we hope this will break down any barriers for people to attend and bring in new people.
  • Planning for opening:
    • Grant applications. – Some applications have been submitted.
    • Reaching out to other organisations. – Emails and conversations have taken place between various organisations
    • Expressions of interest. – The online system has had some response and a list is being generated so that we can contact interested parties once we have a realistic opening schedule.
  • Planning the AGM in January :-
  • Venue? – A venue will be approached to check if we can book.
  • Accounts. – The information has been prepared by the treasurer ready for the AGM.
  • Constitution. – Some changes have been proposed, members are encouraged to read the documents and offer feedback ready for a vote at the next meeting.
  • Elections. – Officer/Trustee positions are up for election at the AGM, anyone interested please get in touch before Decembers meeting.
  • Any Other Business.
    • VSI Community Journalist – a draft was considered and the feedback was very positive. .
